Looking for the most economical laptop - Hopefully around $400 or so. Value is my bottom line so may pay a little more if the value really increases for not too much more $$ .

LISTING says "HP Pavilion ze2308wm Notebook Computer"- but I could not find it anywhere either. Maybe they threw in a bad number or letter. I tried just HP PAVILION with 2308, ze2308, 2308wm, etc but nothing came up at all.

I believe the 'wm' stands for Wal-Mart as HP has made a deal with Walmart to provide them exclusive laptop models. I would check the specs for the low-end ze2000 model at HP to get an idea of the specs. Be careful if it comes with and AMD Sempron processor, I believe they tend to run too hot for small laptops and not powerful enough for desktops and IMHO would not be a good value.

I'm not against AMD processors in general at all, in fact my 'puter has an Athlon XP that runs great. I just think if your going to get a value pc the Celeron is a probably a better choice than Sempron.

378$ at my store also.. I think thats a pretty good deal what about you guys? It could use a memory upgrade but 45-50$ and I can get a 512 stick from newegg. I need a laptop, and for under 400$ I think this will do what I need... web/microsoft office/dreamweaver/photoshop would it not?

I got them from their on line circular. There's a bright green box on the home page where you enter your zip code then click find. It will take you to a list of stores, then just click on "View Advertised Sales" which will direct you to their online circulars.

I don't have that information as of yet.

If you are considering the ZE.. you might want to consider the Dell Inspiron 2200 that I will be posting tomorrow morning. It is at least double the machine and it winds up being the same price, $399.

For anyone who needs a desktop, I will also be posting a Dell Dimension Desktop for $299. The specs will be available later also.

Just wondering about where you said that the 2200 comes with a intel pentium M 735...

When you go to dell and look at thier site they have updated it to all ready have the 150 dollar discount, but with out the mail in 100 dollar discount as you said will be linked tomorrow. But when I looked at the 2200 it comes standard with the following processor:
Intel® Celeron® M Processor 360 (1.40 GHz/1MB Cache/400MHz FSB)

It says you can upgrade for 100 dollars more to get the following: Intel® Pentium® M Processor 735 (1.70 GHz/2MB Cache/400 MHz FSB) [add $100 or $3/month3]

Just wondering if you know if the deal tomorrow will come then the pentium or with the celeron? If it does come with the Pentium its a way better deal then the hp but if it doesnt its fairly comparible to the hp. The hp comes with a network card built in and I think the dell is optional for an additioin 15 dollars. Also they are showing options on screen size of 14.1 standard and 15.0 optional for an extra 50 dollars. The hp black friday ad is 15 inch standard. Basically I was curious if you have any idea on if these will be options on the dell link tomorrow or if they will be standard. If they are options it will bump the price a bit to compare apples to apples, but like I said if the processor is a pentium M and not the Celeron then it is a better machine even with out the other differences.Thanks for the heads up and keep up the good work. ~T
