I chose to get the regular battery for now and buy AFTERMARKET BATTERY (Lithium). I think I can get a lithim battery for a good price. I will take the "free battery" that comes with the unit- If I can get a LITHIUM battery for around $69 - I will have the"included battery as a spare. If I pay $20 more or $89-what the heck - I still come out with spare battery AND the Lithium. Deal Guy agreed with me when I ran it by him too.

Now a Processor is the heart of the unit- It CANNOT BE UPGRADED LATER- so I chose to make sure I got the better processor.
I try to save all the UPGRADEABLE things for later unless they give me an exceptional deal too good to pass up. Many times I feel the better choice is to take what they give you "included" with the deal- but use common sense- If you need it and can't wait - Just get it and dont worry if you can afford it at the time.

WHen I shop I try to think BOTTOM LINE- If I can get a LITHIUM for less than the price of BOTH BATTERIES- I come out ahead.

I appreciate the good words DEAL GUY- I have been looking at some of the other things you post. I see you have some solid knowledge across the board on good deals. I do teke my "deals" seriously- and it is nice to get a compliment from one you respect in the same area.
Your computer knowledge also helped me out- I know a few things - but thanks for your help with some of the decisions. It made a difference. I have some good knowledge on cameras and photography- Music and Musical instuments- So if you ever need a little info maybe we can trade some more ideas.

One of the things I like around here is the open forum. It's nice to share opinions and strategies- and COLLECTIVELY look for the good deals out there.
One nice thing about this place is that we are not salesmen. The advice from a salesman- while it can be very valuable at times - it can also at times be biased.
Got to run right now- but I got a few ideas for some future threads of conversation on BLACK FRIDAY - and I will do some posting soon.
Got to get out there and start to sort through all of the deals I got - Pretty much spent my time at COMP USA and FRY's - (after I got the most important thing - MY LAPTOP- taken care of Wed Night with DELL.)

Ok, so here's what went down this morning at WalMart with the HP laptop. I got there at 2:30 and was in line and had to go through hell to get to where I needed to be to get the computer, but! They counted off people and said they olny had 10 laptops and guess what? I was number 11. I stayed around in line, just in case cuz the woman in front of me, her husband was at Circuit City and said if he got the laptop there that she'd give me the HP. Well, he was far from ever getting the laptop at Circuit City. So I spent the rest of my day bitter and pissed off and spent way too much money to try to make myself feel better.So, I came home and decided I better go ahead and get the Dell. I've got a Dell Inspiron 4100 right now that's over 3 years old and it's slowly falling apart and with the exception of broken keys, I haven't had much problems. I got the $399 deal but upgraded to 512MB RAM and the 15' screen. It comes out to be about $478 before shipping and handling. I did good, I think. I'm surprised to see the deal still up, it looks like it's staying up until 12/01/05, at least the $150 off.

Wow, they only had 10.... thats half as many as I guessed. I was guessing 20 at each store.. with 300 people wanting one. The math doesnt work well for the masses.

Glad Dell stepped up to offer a great deal without making people jump through hoops to get it. (signing up for AOL for a year, standing in the cold, fighting an eager mob)

Sorry to hear about your experience. It is kind of what I expected to see happen though.

Look at it this way though, you wound up with a much better quality laptop. I hope you use it to keep coming back to whatsyourdeal.com and to post in the forums

I just got home and priced out the Inspiron 2200 deal... I only upgraded the LCD Panel to the 15" and after taxes and everything and I get the rebate back, it comes out to a total cost of $539. Is this right?

I did a run through with the monitor upgrade here is my total (Tax in TN is high, yours should be lower) If yours is higher than this, check which shipping option you selected.

Cathy.. I'm an old veteran of BF, therefore I no longer go. That video is exactly why. It is not worth it to go, risk getting hurt and then not wind up with what you want. The topper is you can get the same items or BETTER online and not deal with that junk. Like the Dell.. same price, better laptop, no trampling

Wait until you see this weekend's sales and then the sale on Cyber Monday. You'll never do BF in the stores again.

Ok nevermind, I am a blonde, I had added in a 1 year warranty for an extra $39, that's why my total after rebate comes out to $539, taxes in TX are 8.25% so tax here is a bit less than where you are. I still think this has to be the best deal around for a value laptop with what it has included.

Not sure of the tax rate where you are first of all. Did you pay $29 for the monitor?

You should try to figure it out and show the math-(so it is easy to follow) Then it would be easier to determine. It may be just a few dollars higher - Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE you did not check any other OPTIONS? Check your CONFIGURATION and see what you have on it (what options are showing etc)

Example

$499 + $29 = $538 base price

$538 x 10% Tax estimate = $54

$538 + $54= $592

$592+ $21 Handling Charge= $612

$613-$100 rebate = $513

(I must have saw the POST just before the replys- I was working out the numbers and by the time I posted there was more info- butI was on the right track - there was an option missing.LOL Glad it got figured out.)

There are always more informed people out there you just have to know where to look. I am glad I googled for Hp notebook from Wal-Mart. Otherwise, I would have gotten up early traveled 70 miles to the nearest Large Wal-Mart, waited in line for hours, and left empty handed. I asked around at the local Wal-Marts, all only received ten laptops. I can imagine what kind of tussle that must have been. Wow,what a mess! I love this online shopping stuff. LOL!!! Great Job Guys.
