The only issue with that deal is that the 12 month AOL contract is $24.95 a month X 12 = another $300 to the cost of the laptop. Not worth it as it is for dial up which if you really needed you could get for $8 a month. What they are doing is offering a slick way to show a $400 price for something you are going to be paying $700 for. I kind of find it to be underhanded actually.

Yep, yep I agree, however to counter that they're giving you a $250 gift card for the AOL sign up. Seems like a very convoluted way for them to go about it. But they do have some other deals that don't include the AOL/Gift Card nonsense that are worth it if you have your boxing gloves on to fight your way in the door!!

LOL!!! That's crazy. It's getting nuts isn't it? I really was considering going to compusa for some of the deals, but realized that the 45 minute drive, fighting the madness, probably NOT getting most of the deals... sanity took over and I decided I will just wait and order the deals online as soon as they become available shortly afterwards. What I saw last year was after BF, a lot of the deals became available online at either the same price or a shade more.

I am hoping that happens again this year.

Default 10,000 hits 3 days- Over 5k today

When I logged in earlier today I was surprised to see over 4,000 hits on this thread. I was thinking of going over 5k some time today. Then I went out for a few hours and came home to find over 10,000 hits- and there were more than 5,000 just today. I just want to say thanks to all those who had a look at the thread- and double thanks to all that replied. I have not even looked at all the new replies yet.
After I do so I will tell a little more about what I found out today. I talked to DELL and they do have the $399 laptop ( after $100 rebate) It starts tomorrow. I also have the Walmart flier which came in mail today. More later - I have quite a bit of catching up to do.
Hopefully lots of us will have a nice laptop by the weekend.

Best of luck to all - and
Thanks again to all who viewed.

It won't be active until 8am EST on 11-23 (Wednesday)

Dell has set it up that way. Right now the link goes to a dead page. They are keeping it pretty hush-hush until it is released tomorrow morning. Be up early!!!

It has been quite a thread and a great interest. It seems a lot of people want a laptop for the holidays I'm getting the Dell tomorrow morning for my son. Although my wife now tells me she would like one as well, so it looks like two Maybe I can sell the second printer as I won't need it.

One other thing, At whatsyourdeal.com, we like to reward those who post and contribute. Master-Rebater, for your awesome post and information, we would like to let you know you have won a $20 Amazon.com Gift Certificate. Please PM me with an email address you would like it sent to.

Congratulations!

Default External USB floppy Drives CHEAP

As cheap as the external floppy disk drives are I dont really think it matters much if it includes it. I have seen them for about $10 -$20 on sale . As little as they hold these days- they are really mostly obsolete. You can also just burn the info onto a CD if necessary (if you have a floppy drive and CD BURNER of course. ) Good Luck Happy Hunting

Very true.. and memory sticks are the way to go these days anyway. You can get a 128mb for about $5 After Rebate these days.

Hi all,
Just unbeleivable, a very good deal for the inspiron!!!
I am new here too and would like to thank everybody for this great job....would be more grateful once I will have my first laptop .
Is the number of available laptops limited? do we need a credit card to buy one or a debit card(....I know... stupid question...but I just would like to be sure...it's my first online shopping)?
Is the shiping free? Where exactly would the link be available?

Thanks again.
See you tomorrow.

DjimDjim,

First off. Welcome to Whatsyourdeal.com!

In answer to your questions, a debit card will work just fine to make a purchase as long as it is one that has the visa or mastercard logo. Shipping is going to be free, but they do add a $24 handling charge. All said and done that is not bad to ship a laptop and big printer.

I am pretty excited to get them myself. My wife did confirm she wants one too, so I am in for 2

They did not say there was a limited amount, but that does not mean it isn't limited. Personally at 8AM I am clicking the link posted here and ordering my 2. You know, I wonder if I am going to only pay the $24 handling fee once. Now that would be awesome!!

Again, welcome to whatsyourdeal.com and please share us with your friends, family, co-workers, the cat lady down the block

Dell rep told me today they wont run out - they will just to have speed up manufacturing process to make more to meet the demand if necessary. BUT . . . .I will try to take care of biz early on - Last time I ordered a 'puter from CompUSA on a very big sale- it got delayed because of the UNPRECEDENTED DEMAND. Best thing is to get it done ASAP so there are no complications. Do your homework tonight so you will be ready- Try to decide if you want to add a bit more memory, bigger HD, a DVD burner - or whatever
